Ohio Special Provisions (HO 01 34)
The insurer must provide at least 10 days' notice before canceling a policy for any of the following reasons:
- Nonpayment of premium
- Material misrepresentation of facts related to the insurance
- Evidence of arson
If a policy has been in effect for less than 60 days and is not a renewal, the insurer may cancel it for any reason by providing at least 30 days' notice. If a policy has been in effect for 60 days or more, the insurer may cancel it only if the risk has changed substantially since the policy was issued. The insurer must also provide at least 30 days' notice before the cancellation becomes effective.
For a policy written for a term of more than 1 year, the insurer may cancel or nonrenew the policy at the anniversary date for any reason by providing at least 30 days' notice before the cancellation or expiration date.
